The University of Northwestern Ohio talking to potential students that are interested in fields that are in high demand.  Around 300 high school seniors and parents, attended the UNOH Fall Open House for the Colleges of Business, Health Professions and Occupational Professions.   The open house gives the students the chance to check out the programs at the university and learn more about financial aid and other resources they have available.   UNOH is glad to see a good turnout and the interest in the university to help fill the need for workers in these fields.

Senator Rob Portman says the COVID stimulus package created so much demand when supply was down, creating the situation that we are facing right now. Inflation is currently at 9.1% and has affected just about every economic sector. Portman says when he talks to Ohioans, the first thing that they are concerned about is the rising cost of daily living. To correct this, he says the United States needs to stop stimulus spending and do better in opening up supplies, including energy.

The message has been clear, if you plan on setting off fireworks -- it's best to get them as soon as you can versus waiting last minute. "Going through what we went through in 2020 with COVID -- and what we knew -- we didn't know what to expect then," said Greer. "Last year, we knew we were going to be short, but we were trying to get the message out, and that is a message that we have tried to get out this year. Everybody tends to wait for the 3rd or the 4th, that's typically the way it has always been."

Members from the service club started cooking chili as early as 8 a.m. Thursday morning in order to meet the high demand that the annual project brings. All proceeds will go towards helping speech and hearing projects, such as scholarships for those who are pursuing degrees, as well as helping the local community.
