A vacant and deteriorating house on Sherman Avenue was demolished, ending years of concerns for nearby residents. The Allen County Land Bank coordinated the project, which required special environmental precautions because crews could not safely inspect the structure for asbestos.
A demolition project for a former railroad bridge in downtown Lima has been delayed.
“It was suggested that we reach out to Apollo’s construction trade class and see whether or not they’d be able to do it for us. And when we did, they were very excited about the opportunity, and we’re very, very grateful,” Myers said. “Our costs are minimal, just the actual fuel costs and the dumpster containers, so it allows us to have more money available for the expansion than for the demolition.”
