Another step forward for the construction of the new Allen County administration building. Allen County Commissioners awarded five contracts for the construction of the facility. Bids were opened last week, and their design firm, WDC, reviewed the bids and made their recommendation. Separate contracts for different sections of the project were done to keep costs at or below the projected budget of around 12 million dollars. It will take about two weeks to get the contracts signed with construction to soon follow if the weather holds out. Commissioners are happy that local contractors came in with the best bids.

It was the Lima Allen County Chamber of Commerce's fair edition of Wake, Rattle, and Roll. Speaking today was the executive vice president of the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation. He says that this is the second year of the two largest economic declines in farm income in U.S. history, and the government needs to get a farm bill passed to help stabilize the agri-business economy as we are becoming dependent on others for food.

A former Findlay company is getting bought out in a multibillion-dollar deal. ConocoPhillips is buying Marathon Oil in a deal valued at $22.5 billion, which includes $5.4 billion in debt. Marathon Oil is based out of Houston, Texas, and split off from Marathon Petroleum in Findlay in 2011, making them two separate companies. Marathon Oil deals with oil exploration and production, while Marathon Petroleum refines, markets, and transports petroleum products for consumers.
