A Fort Wayne man’s passion to help others in the memory of his mother will be benefiting residents in Lima.
Police and medics were called just before midnight to the 2200 block of Oliver Street on a report of a shooting. The report says family and friends were gathering Saturday night in the 2200 block of Oliver Street for an "Angelversary" honoring Marcus Hale, who was killed three years ago. Two other victims were taken to the hospital, one was believed to have serious injuries.
Indiana state police said the pursuit ended in Adams County, where a stolen semi-tractor became stuck and caught fire. Fort Wayne media reports the pursuit began in the Dayton suburb of Riverside, when two men took off in a stolen semi-tractor, at times exchanging gunfire with police. The pursuit went through Mercer County and then the village of Willshire in Van Wert before it moved into Indiana, where it ended.
The interchange of I-75 and County Road 99 has been seeing a steady increase in traffic over the years as industrial parks pop up. With that, backed up vehicles and more crashes have been a result. To solve this, the Ohio Department of Transportation came up with a "diverging diamond" plan to replace the traditional design. The Deputy Director for ODOT District One, Chris Hughes, says this blueprint has been proven successful in bigger cities such as Toledo and Fort Wayne.
