Lima woman killed in Fort Wayne shooting

A Lima woman has been identified as the victim of a fatal shooting south of downtown Fort Wayne late Saturday night.

Police and medics were called just before midnight to the 2200 block of Oliver Street on a report of a shooting. As they responded, officers were told multiple people had been shot. According to Fort Wayne's NBC affiliate, the coroner has identified the woman killed in Saturday's triple shooting as 40-year-old Lashawndra Denise McDowell, of Lima, who was there remembering her son who died on the same day in 2019.

The report says family and friends were gathering Saturday night in the 2200 block of Oliver Street for an "Angelversary" honoring Marcus Hale, who was killed three years ago. Two other victims were taken to the hospital, one was believed to have serious injuries.
