The Lima Fire Department is saying thank you to those who donated to their "Fill the Boot" campaign back in August. Firefighters stood on the corner of North West Street and Robb Avenue, raising money for muscular dystrophy. Over August 8th, 9th, and 10th, $15,500 was donated by the public. The Lima Firefighters Local 334 donated an additional $500, making an even $16,000 being donated to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
The City of Lima is announcing that 100 block of South Baxter will be closed for three days, beginning on Monday, September 16th, 2024. Access to W. Market Street shall be maintained by converting the south half of the block to two-way traffic during the closure. See the notice for more information.
Solvita Blood Center will be holding a drawing for everyone registers to donate blood to win 2 tickets to OSU/Michigan on November 30th. Mercy Health-St. Ritas is hosting a Solvita blood drive on September 10th.
Fresh n’ Faded and friends will be hosting their 8th annual Back 2 School Block Party on August 11th in the 200 block of South Main Street in Lima. The event will run from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. There will be free food, a uniform and school supplies giveaway, and shoe giveaways thanks to Kre8tive Branding and Khalil Luster.
If you were driving on North Cable Road on Monday, you may have noticed an old Lima stomping ground coming down. Harry's Hideaway was a popular night spot for years but closed a couple of years ago. In 2022, the University of Northwestern Ohio Development Corporation purchased the building for $600,000.
The Lima YMCA continues to hold a run in honor of a local man who did a lot of work to help children around the world.
