A new grassroots group promoting Lima and its residents is making it a point to bring back a long-time favorite that has been missing since the COVID-19 pandemic. "The Friends of Lima" has announced they will be organizing the return of the Veteran's Memorial Day Parade. The last parade was in 2019 and they say it's time to get back together and honor those who have served. The Memorial Day celebration will have many traditional events and a few new activities as well.
ABATE is a biker organization dedicated to helping children in need. They teamed up with WOCAP to find families and distribute toys bought with the proceeds from their annual toy run back in September. P&G also donated cleaning supplies for parents to pick up along with the toys. While bikers were considered troublemakers a long time ago, nowadays many of them band together to support good causes.

The 22nd annual Flag City BalloonFest will be taking over Emory Park in Findlay. The 50 hot air balloons from all over the United States will be on hand, which is the most that the event has ever had. The balloons will be in the skies every morning all weekend and part of the illuminations tonight and Saturday at 9 p.m. plus, there are helicopter and tethered balloon rides that people can pay to take part in. But the hot air balloons are just part of the fun.
Even though this is Work Zone Safety Week, it is a driver’s responsibility to make sure that the construction workers and other motorists make it home safe all year round. Last year, there were nearly 4,800 crashes in work zones, 35% occurred when construction crews were working. Of all the crashes, just over 1,000 people were injured and 29 were killed in a work zone. But with more contractors getting ready to tackle road projects, ODOT wants to issue a friendly reminder to keep the work zone safe.
