AAA expects a record number of Americans to hit the road this Thanksgiving, and transportation officials say drivers should be prepared for traffic across Ohio.

With Memorial Day next week, the unofficial start of summer is upon us — meaning more people will travel by road and air over the coming months. According to AAA, 45.1 million people nationally and 1.7 million Ohioans will travel at least 50 miles from home between May 22 and May 26 for the holiday.
AAA projects 45.1 million people will travel at least 50 miles from home over the Memorial Day holiday period* from Thursday, May 22 to Monday, May 26. This year’s domestic travel forecast is an increase of 1.4 million travelers compared to last year and sets a new Memorial Day weekend record.
The Ohio Highway Patrol will be visible on Ohio roadways this coming weekend. As part of their Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign, troopers will be enforcing traffic laws in an effort to reduce risk on Ohio Roadways. In 2020, there were 10 fatal crashes that killed 12 people from December 24th through December 27th. Of the 10 fatalities in which seat belts were available, nine were unbelted.
The holidays are all about the hustle and bustle, but there was nobody that was busier then the Ohio State Highway Patrol this past weekend.
