LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - Local students showed their appreciation for the first responders in the area.
Students at Independence Elementary got a lesson in conducting Tuesday morning thanks to the Lima Symphony Orchestra. Roger Kalia stopped by the school to talk to students about his experiences as a professional musician, conductor, and educator. He also wants to encourage the students to think about getting involved in music as they get older. Kalia is one of seven candidates that are auditioning to be the next conductor of the Lima Symphony Orchestra. He says that he would like to continue many of the things that the orchestra is already doing if he's chosen as the next conductor.
While there were no cats in hats, there were plenty of students in hats today to kick off Read Across America Week.
