The Johnny Appleseed Metro Parks District is getting some extra funding from the state for its biggest park. The parks district received a $2 million grant from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources earlier this year to be invested in Kendrick Woods park. The project at Kendrick Woods has progressed quite well and is about 75% complete, according to park officials. The project includes 103 acres of wetland re-establishment to help create new habitats and improve water quality in the Auglaize River.

It takes a lot of hard work and manpower to keep a park district up and running. That is why the Johnny Appleseed took time to thank the people that help them out with their educational programs, in the campgrounds, or at one of the many events that the park district host. Volunteers that have hit 5-year milestones received a special thank you from the organization.
