It takes a lot of hard work and manpower to keep a park district running and thriving.
That is why the Johnny Appleseed took time to thank the people that help them out with their educational programs, in the campgrounds, or at one of the many events that the park district host. Volunteers that have hit 5-year milestones received a special thank you from the organization. Like Jim Fletcher and his wife Evelynne who have been volunteering at the park district for over 30 years and enjoy the time with the people that stood beside them along the way.
“We like to stay active when we can," said Jim Fletcher, volunteer at JAMPD for over 30 yrs. "Right now I live in Findlay so it's a little tough coming back and forth like I would really want to, but we help out when we can and I guess it’s the friends that we've been doing this a long time, it’s like coming home."
“It’s really important to honor our volunteers because they are the backbone of the park district," said Chris Fetzer, JAMPD Volunteer Coordinator. "We do so many programming and educational programs that there is no way that we can do all of this with the staff that we have. We really rely on volunteers expertise and their knowledge."
There were 225 people that volunteered with the park district in the past year.
