BATH TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WLIO) - The Bath Township Fire Chief has announced his retirement.

Chief Joseph Kitchen formally notified the Bath Township trustees about his retirement during an executive board meeting on May 5th. Chief Kitchen joined the fire department in 1990, making his career with bath 36 years. Chief Kitchen improved many aspects of the department, including the training and education to provide the most up-to-date preparation for his team.

"Together, working with the firefighters and working with the community, you know, we were able to improve the organization in ways, such as training and prevention, and education. Improve some of the equipment apparatus in the facility, and, I'm proud of all of that," says Chief Joseph Kitchen, fire chief for Bath Township Fire Department.

Kitchen notes that although retirement is emotional for him, he cherishes all the memories made with the department and looks forward to their continuing improvements.
