LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - Lima City Council held their third and final reading on an ordinance regarding the Cable Road project.

They took a unanimous "no" vote for the repeal, marking it as failed. It is now up to the voters if the specific ordinance will pass. The council is unsure whether this will be held during an August special election or on the November ballot, but will vote on the date at an upcoming council meeting.

"Additional things that were asked of council too, of the administration as well as the law director was one, the law director to prepare what that cost would look like for council so we know what that cost of the election would cost us. Then, we asked the administration to give us a timeline of what that would look like for the project, but also going to the voters," says Jamie Dixon, president of Lima City Council.

The proposed Cable Road Reconstruction project is billed as a safety enhancement by the city, but has drawn solid opposition from some people over traffic concerns.
