A Hancock County judge has sentenced Michigan man to over two decades in prison for shooting a Findlay trooper during a traffic stop in the fall of 2021. 43-year-old Robert Hathorn will serve a minimum of 26 to a maximum of 31 years in prison for the six charges he was found guilty of during a trial in June. Some of the charges include felonious assault of a peace officer, aggravated robbery, and tampering with evidence.

According to troopers, Hathorn was asked to get out of the car when Brobst smelled marijuana. The two men were standing behind the patrol cruiser when they began struggling over the trooper's gun and Brobst was shot in the lower body.
