First lady Fran DeWine had a goal of getting books into the hands of kids in all 88 counties in the state. So, she has been working hard to promote getting kids birth to 5 years old signed up for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, which mails out free books to the kids each month.  This year, Ohio has 362,000 books hitting mailboxes each month, which is the most of any state that is using the Imagination Library program.

There were more that presents being handed out at a Breakfast with Santa event Saturday morning.   The organization, Daddys at Work brought families over to their new home at Forest Park United Methodist Church. Thanks to a group of sponsors, the kids were able to have some pancakes and sausage, talk with Santa, and pick out a toy to take home. This is Daddys at Work first event at Forest Park, which shares the same mission of putting kids first.  But thanks to the collaboration with businesses, the kids were not the only ones to walk away with something new.

Kids and parents made a Visit to the North Pole without even leaving Allen County Sunday afternoon. This is the 2nd year that the Lima Symphony Orchestra held their holiday themed fundraiser at 19 Hawthorne Event Venue.   There was music, cookie and ornament decorating, and kids could get their picture taken with Santa Claus or some of his reindeer.  They estimated that there were going to be around 1 thousand people stopping by to help support the symphony and their continuing efforts to bring music and education to the area.

On Friday, Wapakoneta begins their sixtieth annual Children's Hometown Holiday. There will be a parade, kids can meet Santa, reindeer to pet, outdoor ice skating, and more. For the first time this year, there will also be a Christmas tree lighting ceremony, as well as the return of the popular snowball drop event. It's a good opportunity for parents to get some Christmas shopping done, and take their kids out for some holiday-themed fun.

Parents brought their young kids to the Lima Public Library to enjoy Thanksgiving-themed activities. The kids listened to a few story books, made music with wooden sticks, sang a few rhymes, and made crafts to get into the holiday spirit. The library says that events like this are beneficial to children.
