Have you ever asked yourself the question, “How can I make someone’s day a little brighter today?” John Battles has, and he has launched a global mission to ignite one million acts of kindness—starting right here in Lima.
The Webb Office of Student Life in collaboration with the College of Food, Agriculture, and Environmental Sciences held the Growing Kindness program. The project has staff, faculty, and students plant two succulents, one to keep for themselves and one to give away in kindness to someone else.
The “kindness challenge” was started by a third grade teacher at Heritage Elementary School. During a program for the school resource officers, the teacher surprised them with gifts from her students, and challenged each officer to ask their schools how they can spread kindness too. On Friday, Freedom Elementary School accepted the challenge. The resource officer says she’s glad to get the kids involved with something so positive.
Students got to kick off their school year with kindness out in Glandorf on Friday.
