Lima Mayor Sharetta Smith is concerned about the recent gun violence in the city. With two homicides within the last 30 days in or near city parks, she is looking to add safety measures to all parks. "I will be asking city council for funding for both cameras and additional lighting in our parks. In 2023 and 2024 we added additional lighting in both Cook Park and Robb Park, but you will see capital expenditures for lighting and cameras in all of our parks to improve safety," said Mayor Sharetta Smith, City of Lima.
