The ion endoluminal system offers patients a more precise biopsy as well as easier ways for health professionals to obtain samples from deep within the lung, a previously challenging aspect of lung biopsy. Before receiving the new medical equipment, doctors had to use magnetic tracking to explore a person's lungs but were limited in how they could explore the lung to detect nodules and signs of cancer.
