Brown is expected to seek reelection. Dolan's announcement makes him the first Republican in that race. Dolan is a member of the family that owns baseball's Cleveland Guardians. Dolan made his first Senate bid last to replace Rob Portman in Washington. He was the rare candidate in that crowded Republican primary who didn't back the narrative that the 2020 election was either stolen from Former President Donald Trump or fraught with fraud or other problems.

Senator Matt Dolan whose district spans several Cleveland suburbs introduced Senate Bill 357. He claims Ohio's approach to gun laws doesn't have to be all or nothing. He says his bill is intended to grant protections for second amendment rights while providing a means for taking guns away from an individual deemed by a judge to be mentally ill, and a danger to themselves or others.

Monday night, 7 Republicans running to fill Rob Portman's Senate seat took the stage together, each trying to lure voters to their side.  The candidates described the race as a fight to preserve American values, protect U.S. security and revive the economy.  But having that many candidates for a single primary race led to a lot of comments of them trying to separate themselves from each other.
