The three Ohio Republican U.S. Senate candidates give their stance on abortion

OXFORD, OH (WLIO) - One of the big races for Ohio Republicans, in the March 19th primary election, is for U.S. Senate. This past week, Frank LaRose, Matt Dolan, and Bernie Moreno took part in their final debate, hosted by WLWT-TV and held on the campus of Miami University. Abortion is going to be a key issue in the national races this election year and each of the candidates talked about their stance on abortion in the United States.

“What we have to do in this country is make sure that we have policies that make it less expensive to have children, less expensive to raise children. Make sure that women have access to good health care. That women have equal access to contraception the way men do. Make sure that adoption services are readily available. Make sure that we are funding pregnancy centers, and giving absolutely not one dime to Planned Parenthood,” says Bernie Moreno, Republican Candidate for U.S. Senate.

“This is an important issue and you can not be disingenuous with Ohio, Ohioans about. I have been crystal clear about my position about abortion, and it hasn’t always sat well with every Republican. But I have never deviated from the fact that we need to have three exceptions. Life of the mother, rape, and incest,” says Matt Dolan, Republican Candidate for U.S. Senate.

“It is not good enough to be pro-birth, you must truly be pro-life. We need to affirm life and those who want to start a family. We need to be supportive of women that are making difficult choices to make sure they can make those life-affirming choices like having a child and giving that child up for adoption. We also have to make sure that the cost of starting a family isn’t so prohibitive for people. We need to support pregnancy centers and access to conception, who chose those options as well,” says Frank LaRose, Republican Candidate for U.S. Senate.

The winner of the primary will face Democratic Senator Sherrod Brown in the November general election.
