Kalida closes on 16-4 run to punch first state title berth since 2009, sets up showdown with St. John’s

(WRIGHT STATE) — Kalida is headed to the state championship game for the first time since 2009 after pulling away late for a 58-46 win over Hillsdale in the Division VII state semifinal.
The Wildcats trailed early before finding their rhythm, using a strong third quarter to take control and tie the game heading into the fourth.
Paul Stechschulte delivered in the final frame, scoring 11 points, including a go-ahead three-point play, as Kalida closed the game on a 16-4 run.
Gavin Leis led the Wildcats with 14 points, while Logan Kerner and Owen Grime added key contributions.
Now riding a 10-game winning streak, Kalida advances to face Delphos St. John’s in the state championship game.
