The Mercer County Special Olympics and the Mercer County Sheriff's Office battled it out on the basketball court on Monday night. Inside the Celina Field House was the 4th annual "Bobcats" versus "Deputies" basketball game where the Special Olympics and Sheriff's Office teams fought for king of the hardwood. Earlier in the evening, the Special Olympics Skills Team, known as the Wildcats, also put the Deputies' basketball skills to the test with their own game with the Special Olympics and Unified Cheer Teams performing between the two games. This annual basketball game has grown over the past few years and attracts many in the community to join.

January 8, 2025, press release from the Mercer County Board of Developmental Disabilities: CELINA, Ohio — The annual Showdown of the Mercer County Special Olympics vs. the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department is set for Monday, January 13th at the Celina Field House. “We are thrilled to bring this game back to the Field House this year,” said Sam Fledderjohann, Mercer County Special Olympics Coordinator. “Last year was a huge success, and we’re excited to do it again!”
