Mercer County Special Olympics versus Mercer County Sheriff's Office in 4th annual basketball game

This annual basketball game has grown over the past few years and attracts many in the community to join.

Inside the Celina Field House was the 4th annual "Bobcats" versus "Deputies" basketball game, where the Special Olympics and Sheriff's Office teams fought for king of the hardwood. Earlier in the evening, the Special Olympics Skills Team, known as the Wildcats, also put the Deputies' basketball skills to the test with their own game with the Special Olympics and Unified Cheer Teams performing between the two games. This annual basketball game has grown over the past few years and attracts many in the community to join.

"It's such a great inspiration for our players. They have people that show up to this game that don't even have a connection to the Special Olympics. So of course, their family and those who would support them, but it's become such a community event to show that the community is behind our athletes just as much as they're behind high school athletes is pretty special," says Sam Fledderjohann, Mercer County Special Olympics Coordinator.

The Mercer County Special Olympics also hosts bowling, powerlifting, volleyball, golf, equestrian, and flag football.
