Allen County health officials are encouraging residents to protect themselves from mosquitoes and ticks as summer begins and wet weather creates ideal breeding conditions. Health Commissioner Brandon Fischer said removing standing water, wearing protective clothing, and checking for ticks after spending time outdoors can help reduce the risk of illness.
With all of the recent rainfall in our area, that standing water left behind could be the perfect breeding ground for mosquitoes.
Dusk and early dawn are the most prevalent times for mosquitoes.
Although we have had a break in the rain there is still plenty of standing water around that could lead to another nuisance....mosquitoes!
