The Allen County Port Authority is moving forward with road improvements ahead of the new data center project.
Among the proposed upgrades are potential roundabouts at the intersections of Cole Street and Bluelick Road, Beery Road, and State Route 115. The plan also includes widening North Cole Street to accommodate increased traffic volume.
“What we gain with that is capital investment on property that was taxed as agriculture now will be taxed as industrial, and so the revenue will be based upon the minimum of $500 million capital investment, a minimum of 50 full-time high-paying jobs,” said Cindy Leis, president and CEO of the Allen Economic Development Group.
"That package not only includes CRA property tax abatement, but it also includes agreements that are put forth for our utilities, both from an electric AEP perspective, water, sanitary sewer, and then we'll also have a plan for road work improvements," said Cindy Leis, President and CEO of the Allen Economic Development Group.
During a meeting Tuesday morning, commissioners passed a resolution to create a Community Reinvestment Area (CRA) encompassing approximately 345 acres. Officials say the designated area is smaller than what was initially proposed.

An Ohio Highway State Patrol Cruiser was involved in what appeared to be a two-vehicle crash on Lima's north side Monday evening. Details currently remain very limited, but the crash occurred at the intersection of West Robb Avenue and North Cole Streets around 9 PM Monday. The Allen County Sheriff's Office along with American Township responded to the scene. Information about any injuries and how the crash happened are unknown. The Lima Police Department is investigating multiple gunshots fired on the city's north end on Sunday evening. Shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, officers from the Lima Police Department responded in the vicinity of North Cole Street and West Robb Avenue for a shots fired call. Initial investigations have discovered that a group of subjects were on foot and another group of subjects were in a vehicle. One of the subjects on foot fired more than 10 gunshots toward the vehicle, with the rest of the group fleeing on foot. The vehicle also fled the area, but as the vehicle fled, someone inside appeared to have returned gunfire. Currently, there are no known injuries.
