The Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation will be delivering masks to businesses in the state to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. The Bureau has hired two Cleveland based companies to make 23 million masks. The companies began manufacturing in late November and it is expected to take up until summer to get all of them complete. This is the second round of masks the BWC has sent out, they have already shipped 23 million masks between May and October of this year. The masks are free to businesses and help Ohio in many ways.
DeWine says earlier this week, CARES Act funding was approved to help support small businesses, the arts, non-profits, and hospitals. Plus, money was also approved to help low-income families with rent and mortgages, and utilities payments. On top of that assistance, DeWine is asking the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation to offer $5 billion in dividend payments for businesses that pay into the program. If approved, this will be the third round of dividend payments in 2020 and the largest.
LIMA – Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation (BWC) honored 49 local employers for reaching one year without workplace injuries or illnesses that kept workers away from work for more than a day. The employers, members of the West Central Ohio Safety Council, received BWC’s 100% Award during the Safety Council’s annual awards ceremony today.
The checks are in the mail as regional businesses are getting a rebate from the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation.
