The Allen County Democratic Party is hosting monthly community meetings and a Feb. 1 fundraiser production at the Encore Theater as it ramps up outreach efforts ahead of the November election.
It's been a challenging year for Dayton as the city looks to rebuild after a series of tragic events. On Monday evening, Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley spoke about how the city has come together to rebuild and move forward. In May a tornado ripped through Dayton destroying dozens of homes and establishments. And just two months ago an armed man shot and killed 9 people and dozens of others outside a bar in the Oregon District. Despite these two tragic events Mayor Whaley says the city has remained strong because it's unity.
In advance of the President making a trip to the Buckeye State, Ohio Democrats held several "We Stand With Ohio Workers" events in Lima and Canton on Wednesday. Local and state officials spoke on the closing of the Lordstown General Motors plan, where about 1,500 people were laid off as GM shut the doors on five plants in the US and Canada earlier in March.
While it may have been a small turn out, the Ohio Democratic party had a strong message.
