Ohio Governor Mike DeWine today served as the opening speaker for the Governor’s Policy Summit on Healthy Aging.
The Ohio Department of Aging (AGE) is hosting a town hall at 50 North on Friday, August 15 from 2-4 p.m.
Temperatures will be in the 90s in many parts of Ohio over the next several days, with a heat index over 100 degrees also possible in some cities.
This year, older Ohioans are at risk of losing more than $60 million to scammers and fraudsters.
Ohio's Department of Aging is accepting nominations for the state's Senior Citizen's Hall of Fame. It honors current or long-time Ohio residents age 60 and older who have made and continue to make a lasting impact on their communities, professions, or vocations. The department says 486 older Ohioans have been inducted into the hall of fame since 1976. Nominations must be received by November 29th to be considered for induction in 2020.
The Ohio Department of Aging says an alleged incident at a Lima nursing home, reinforces the importance of safety in those facilities.
The state agency says they are working closely with the offices investigating the injuries sustained by 70 year old Susan Washington of Lima at the Lima Rehab and Nursing Center.

Younger, of Findlay, into the Ohio Senior Citizens Hall of Fame during a special ceremony at the Statehouse Atrium in Columbus on Thursday, May 30, 2019. Mr. and Mrs. Younger are among 12 outstanding older Ohioans being inducted this year for a lifetime of contributions and accomplishments. The honorees will be recognized by their peers, the Ohio General Assembly, Governor Mike DeWine and members of his cabinet, the Ohio Association of Area Agencies on Aging, and leaders from Ohio’s aging network.
