The Van Wert Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash in Emerald Township, Paulding County. The crash occurred on County Road 143 at US Route 24 at 3:20 P.M. on Friday, June 27.

October 15, 2024, Press Release from the Office of Congressman Bob Latta: BOWLING GREEN, OH — Congressman Bob Latta (R-OH5) today presented Paulding County Veteran William Young with a Bronze Star for his meritorious service in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Young served as one of the members of the 'B' Company, 720th Military Police Battalion, Military Police Brigade. This Bronze Star awarded to Young is part of a larger effort by Latta's office, spearheaded by a group of the members of the 'B' Company in their appeal to obtain the Combat Infantry Badge (CIB) to recognize their service during the Vietnam War.

A Paulding man was found dead in a house fire over the weekend. Just before 8 AM Sunday, Paulding firefighters along with police and EMS rushed to 609 West Perry Street in Paulding for a two-story structure fire where they ultimately discovered 47-year old Daniel Lee Kent dead.

June 28, 2024, Press Release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol: Paulding – The Van Wert Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that occurred on CR138 west of TR117 in Paulding County, Jackson Township, at approximately 10:35 P.M. on June 27, 2024. A 2003 Chevrolet Malibu, operated by Jessica Renee Sauder, 33 years of age, of Paulding, was traveling eastbound on CR138. Christopher Lynn Smith, 44 years of age, of Paulding, was walking eastbound on CR138, in the eastbound lane of travel, and was struck by Miss Sauder’s vehicle. Mr. Smith was transported to the Paulding County Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The crash remains under investigation at this time.
