Paulding County deputies are asking for help in finding the suspect responsible for a weekend drive-by shooting in rural part of the county. Shortly after 8 p.m. on Saturday night, deputies responded to a call, of multiple shots being fired from a vehicle on the roadway at a home at 12504 Road 72 just north of Haviland. The homeowner, Newlyn Baker was the only person home at the time, and he was not injured during the shooting. They have no information about a possible suspect or vehicle description. Paulding County Sheriff Jason Landers says that his deputies were sent to the home of Paulding County Commissioner Clint Vance and found him dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in an outbuilding on his farm. Sheriff Landers says it is a very sad day for a lot of people. Vance was just 30 years old.
The Paulding County Sheriff's Office is investigating a domestic violence situation where one person was shot. Alisha Shepherd, 36, has been charged with Felonious Assault and Louis Wannemacher, 36, has been charged with two counts of misdemeanor domestic violence following an incident that happened just after 10 pm Saturday night at 7871 State Route 111 in Paulding County. Deputies say Shepherd shot at Wannemacher and grazed his neck, after he allegedly assaulted her and her 14-year-old son. Wannemacher was treated for his injures. Both were booked in the Paulding County Jail and will be arraigned on Monday.
