Lima Utilities Director Mike Caprella is advising people to take steps to prevent pipes from freezing because it can be an expensive fix. He recommends turning on faucets just slightly to allow water to flow through overnight, especially if it's a pipe on an outside wall. Caprella said to open up cupboards under sinks as well to allow heat to flow in. be sure to check your windows are closed at home as well as making sure basements and crawl spaces are all sealed up.
