It's officially pothole season, and we're starting to see a few to pop up with the recent weather swings. Lima city crews report fewer potholes so far than last winter, but expect that number to ramp up heading toward late winter and early spring. City crews cover 150 miles of roadway and are strictly using a cold mix to patch the holes.

The city owns and maintains more than 500 alleys in the city. They are in the midst of their annual alley grading program. Crews will be filling potholes and leveling stone alleys. They have been getting calls about when they will get to certain alleys, and they are asking residents to be patient as it takes time to get to all the alleys.

It's the time of the year potholes start appearing everywhere and that means damage to your car and pocketbooks. Steve Klausing, head of the automotive division at the University of Northwestern Ohio, said a lot of different damage can come from potholes.
