LIMA, OH (WLIO) - They make your ride around town bumpier and can even put a dent in your wallet!
It's officially pothole season, and we're starting to see a few to pop up with the recent weather swings. Lima city crews report fewer potholes so far than last winter, but expect that number to ramp up heading toward late winter and early spring. City crews cover 150 miles of roadway and are strictly using a cold mix to patch the holes. Even with the warm weather, crews say the more permanent hot mix is only available on a seasonal basis as asphalt plants are shut down for the winter.
"We've seen times where the potholes just pop up everywhere and temperatures about to drop back down, so again, the cold mix is temporary fix. Once it warms back up spring and summer comes then we'll take hot mix and do a permanent fix on them," explained Warner Roach, deputy public works director for the City of Lima.
You can report a pothole by calling the City of Lima Streets Division at (419) 221-5165 or by submitting a request on their website.
