The American Legion Post 96 continues their efforts to bring some Christmas cheer to some local kids. For several years now, the veterans, Sons of the Legion and the Ladies’ Auxiliary have been hosting a Children’s Christmas Party.  This year, over 120 kids ages birth to 12 years got presents, along with other food and goodies.  Getting ready for the Christmas Party is a year long process with the Legion hosting fundraisers to purchase the gifts.   But this year some businesses and organizations stepped up to help them out to make sure the kids had a good Christmas.

We want to thank everyone that stopped by the Allentown Rd. Wal-mart and donated to Truckload of Toys.  Because of your donations, we collected hundreds of toys that are going to help the Salvation Army give some area kids a better Christmas.   But if you would like to still donate to the Toys for Tots campaign, the drop off boxes around the area will be picked up the week of December 12th.  Last year, the Salvation Army gave presents to 1500 children and with every ones help we can make sure everyone has presents under the tree this year.  So, thanks again to Wal-mart and Kewpee Hamburgers for the coupons to help make our day a success.

ABATE was able to have their in person toy run, with bikers throughout the area raising funds for kids and today they visited WOCAP to deliver presents that they bought. This year they saw a good bit of donations and were able to raise around $18,000 which was enough to sponsor 101 children’s presents in the program.
