People from all over the region are looking forward to Lima's Star Spangled Spectacular, especially the fireworks show. Crews from Rozzi began setting up Thursday night's show on Wednesday. A little more than 900 shells are packed into the mortars and secured for the 20-minute synchronized show with the Lima Area Concert Band. They will be shot from just south of Safety City to explode over Faurot Park in a dazzling show. Some shells have been imported from several foreign countries to give more variety.

With Independence Day around the corner, communities across Ohio are preparing fireworks displays to celebrate. The Shawnee Fire Department is urging those planning on using fireworks to play it safe this week to avoid fires and injuries.  According to the State Fire Marshal's Prevention Bureau, in 2023, 128 fires occurred from firework use. In 2022, there were more than 10,200 people treated for injuries from fireworks as well. Many affected by firework misuse are children.

Preparations are well underway for what's being billed as one of the largest fireworks shows in the region, set for this Saturday at Indian Lake.
