“You're not legally required to have an infant in a car seat on a bus. You can hold your baby, while it's still best practice,” said Megan Kinnear, Public Outreach & Community Program Planner at LACRPC. “We still want everyone to know — if you have a carrier available, that's always the best way to have your child, even on a bus. But if you don't have that, this is an alternative option, or if you just need alternative transportation.”
Active transportation is any man-made movement like walking, bicycling, and even skateboarding. This is your opportunity to report any issues that you might have with active transportation. The 2022 Active Transportation Plan is being updated with respect to the Ohio Department of Transportation's new Walk Bike Ohio Plan.
Cody Doyle is an Associate Planner at the RPC and says, “Part of that grant is were view every fatal accident that takes place in the county and try to look at things that we can do differently in the future. Through maybe engineering or education that will help sort of maybe curb some of those accidents overall throughout the county if we can spot a trend or maybe look at a specific location and try to place recommended measures there.”
The Lima/Allen County Regional Planning Commission has put together a draft of their 2020 traffic crash report. The report found that there were just over 2,800 crashes in Allen County last year, which is significantly down from the 3,200 crashes in 2019.
