May 14, 2024, Press Release from the Delphos Police Department: The Delphos Police Department received 370 calls for service in the month of April. The following is a partial list of calls handled for the month of April and do not include traffic citations, crashes, ect. The police department has a large number of bicycles that have been located or turned in. If you are missing a bicycle, please come to the police department and describe the bicycle you are missing, and we will get it back to you.

May 11, 2024, Press Release from the Ohio Department of Transportation: LIMA, Ohio - (Saturday, May 11, 2024) The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), Defiance County Economic Development, and Paulding County Economic Development, Inc. invite the public to attend a ceremony to officially open the reconstructed bridge on U.S. 127 over the Maumee River in Defiance County. The event will be held Friday, May 17, at 10 a.m. on the bridge, located south of the village of Sherwood in Defiance County, and just north of the Paulding County line. The ceremony will take place toward the south end of the bridge. Participants may park on the closed portions of U.S. 127, north and south of the bridge (see map below). The bridge will open to traffic later in the day following the ceremony.

Multiple homes and buildings are reported damaged to the south of Grand Lake after a reported tornado touchdown, and while there are reports of property damage, the good news so far, we are not hearing reports of injuries. The storm appeared to have started near the Ohio-Indiana line touching down in the vicinity of Coldwater and moving east toward Auglaize County following along State Route 219. Along the way, homes and buildings were damaged, and power lines were downed. First responders were reportedly going house-to-house along State Route 219, Southland Road, and parts of 66-A to check for damage and anyone needing help. Traffic was being diverted from State Route 219 because of debris and the number of downed power lines.

According to Lima City Schools Superintendent Jill Ackerman, who was on the scene, the student attempted to cross Market Street from the high school grounds when a car traveling on the road struck the student. After the first responders arrived, the student was alert and responsive but was transported to a local hospital as a precaution.

May 1, 2024, News Release from the Wood County Sheriff's Office: On May 1, 2024, at 8:27 p.m., the Wood County Sheriff's Office was notified of a single-vehicle crash at Mears Rd. and Main St. in the Village of Jerry City, which resulted in a single fatality. The crash involved a white 2016 Chevrolet pickup operated by 61-year-old John Wansitler of Jerry City.
