Before the expansion, the pediatric rehab facilities only had less than two thousand square feet of space for offices. Their space has now is just over five thousand square feet. Students traveled from room to room to hear stories from their teachers’ favorite books. Whether it was learning how to cook from Julia Chiles, getting to know “Shaggy, Scooby and the gang” and being introduced to a Venus Fly Trap named “Plantilla”, the students were captivated by the stories. The youngsters also got to dress up as their favorite book characters.

The first fire was in the 1500 block of South Main Street around 9:30 a.m. An electrical malfunction caused a small fire inside the home. Firefighters were able to quickly put the fire out and contain it to the one room. The damage is estimated to be around $5,000. Since it was an electrical fire, the power was shut off to the house. Because of that, the Red Cross was called in to help the family.
