The Allen County Sheriff's Office reports there were no major emergencies and just a handful of calls for service. None of them related to tourists. They do believe that the planning done before the eclipse helped with the day, and they did the best they could.
Many of the families were from out of town, spending time with family to view the eclipse. The children were especially excited to see what a total eclipse would be like.Â
The Allen County Airport was anticipating nearly 50 planes by the time of the eclipse, and they were coming in one after another this morning. Planes of all types were on the tarmac from all over the country. Several were from Michigan; others were from Virginia and Florida, all looking forward to the big moment.
Families, couples, and solo pilots from all over the country gathered at Auglaize County's Neil Armstrong Airport to watch today's eclipse. After landing, there was also a shuttle available to take them to the Armstrong Air and Space Museum in Wapakoneta. The crowd gathered on the tarmac was a good mix of first-time eclipse viewers, eclipse chasers, and astronomers.Â
The Armstrong Air and Space Museum was mentioned in many publications and websites as one of the best places to watch the eclipse. We caught up with some visitors when it was over to get their reaction to seeing the solar eclipse in the hometown of the first man to walk on the moon.
A couple of hundred people were dancing in the moonlight on top of the downtown Lima parking garage. The anticipation of the total eclipse was being felt by everyone as they patiently waited for the big moment. As it arrived, the air became cooler, there was a light breeze, and it looked like dawn around the city, and it took people's breath away.

Commissioners approved a lease with H.G. Violet for several ATVs and UTVs for Monday's eclipse. The vehicles will be used by emergency management in case an emergency response is needed. The vehicles would be able to maneuver through high-traffic areas easier than larger equipment. Commissioners say that the county is ready for Monday's eclipse.
