ST. MARYS, OH (WLIO) - The St. Marys Theater and Grand Opera House took time Sunday night to show movies that locals watched there back in 1923.
Crews are busy working on the auditorium ceiling to repair water damage from the leaking roof. Thanks to some donated work by a local business, there is heat in the building and the space above the stage is back in working order. They have raised over one-third of their $3,000,000 goal. They will continue to go after grants to add to the community support to complete the project.
The class donated $1,000 to the restoration efforts of the St. Marys Theater and Opera House. The building has been around for over 120 years and the students felt it was important to join other community members and businesses in helping save it. Since the structure has brought a lot of entertainment to the community, the students put on their first “St. Marys Got Talent” show to raise their donation.
