“It’s a great opportunity to talk about streets, sidewalks, curbs,” Coleman said. “There’s been a lot of talk about trash, so we’ve been looking at that too—actually bringing along trash bags with us now to pick up litter during the walks. We’re really getting involved.”
Construction season will be starting early in downtown Lima as phase two of the streetscape improvement project is set to begin. Truck detour signs will be going up in early February for Central Avenue between Elm Street and Wayne Street. The contractor will begin installing the new storm sewer during the winter, and in the spring work on new sidewalks, street lighting, crosswalks, and more will begin.
With more snow on the way, the City of Lima is asking for residents' help to make the plowing process more productive. Crews are still out trying to clean up the remaining snow on the city streets. But that becomes difficult when vehicles are not being moved. If you have a driveway, please park there, and if not, try and move to a space that has already been cleared.
The City of Lima is gearing up for its fall road resurfacing project. The city has 15 roads marked for the road work being done by Bluffton Paving. They hope to start Wednesday, October 16th, with a portion of Robb Avenue between Cole and Metcalf. There are streets all around the city scheduled for resurfacing. The contractor will put up no parking signs a few days before to let residents know they will be coming. The public works department asks motorists and residents to find other routes during the repaving process as partial lane closures are expected.
