The local chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority is gearing up to celebrate its 30th Martin Luther King Junior Memorial Breakfast. The annual event celebrates the life and legacy of Doctor King by bringing people of all ages together to be inspired to make their community better. This year, Mayor Sharetta Smith will be talking about the occasion, and the featured speaker is Lima native Angela Davis. The money raised from the breakfast helps fund scholarships for students. Last year the sorority handed out 14 thousand dollars in scholarships to help kids start college on a positive note.
