August 14, 2024, Press Release from the Office of Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost: (COLUMBUS, Ohio) — Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost today urged a federal court to toss an antitrust lawsuit brought by the Federal Trade Commission to block a merger between Kroger and Albertsons. In an amicus brief filed today with a U.S. District Court in Oregon, Yost and three other state attorneys general ask the court to let Kroger’s acquisition of Albertsons proceed. Yost and his counterparts contend that the FTC’s opposition to the deal is based on a flawed understanding of the marketplace in which the two retailers operate.
Donations were collected at the stores from August 4th through September 14th, and those numbers totaled $9,750. A check presentation ceremony took place on Tuesday, October 11th, at the Chief Supermarket Cable Road location in Lima. Store managers from the Cable Road and Northland Lima locations were on hand, along with West Ohio Food bank CEO Tommie Harner.
The Salvation Army of Lima says they are close to reaching their kettle campaign goal.
The Salvation Army kicked off their Christmas in July Kettle Campaign on Monday in Allen County at all Chief Supermarket and Kewpee locations. Volunteers brought out the renowned red kettles to accept donations that provide assistance to the community and those in need as well as to operate summer programs. Despite the calendar saying July, the Salvation Army operates year round and requires a steady stream of donations to fulfill its mission.
