Organizers of the kettle campaign say that they are $2,600 away from reaching their $20,000 goal, which will all go towards helping the community in various aspects such as summer programs and overall assistance.

The campaign will continue through July 30th at Chief Supermarket on Cable Road and West Northern Avenue, as well as Kewpee locations on Allentown road, Elizabeth Street, and Bellefontaine Avenue.

"We are $2,600 off with two days left to go so that's good and attainable," said Paul Downing. "That's good for us. Saturday with the rainstorms really knocked us out, we lost an entire day there. The next couple of days are really important to reach that goal."

"The people have been really great," said Phillip Bender, Salvation Army Captain. "I mean, it just amazes me with just how much people are giving. Without them, we could not do it. We do the kettles, but without the people... they have been so wonderful. It's been a blessing."
