LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — The City of Lima is now accepting applications for its GenNext Youth Employment Program, a paid summer internship aimed at helping young people gain workforce experience.
The program is open to individuals ages 16 to 24 and pairs participants with local employers based on their interests. City officials say the initiative is designed to prepare young adults for success in today’s workforce while also benefiting businesses through mentorship opportunities and talent development.
Jacalyn Owens, human resources administrator for the City of Lima, said the program focuses on building connections between young workers and employers.
“To bridge the gap by communicating and connecting these young adults with employers who are willing to mentor and support the next generation of talent,” Owens said.
Applications are available on the City of Lima’s website and must be submitted by Friday, May 1. Participants are also required to complete a pre-employment training session on Friday, May 15, in order to take part in the program.
