The last two days of the Lima Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign had to be canceled due to the arctic temperatures and that was a big concern about reaching their $125,000 goal. Thanks to the generosity of others, the kettle campaign collected $128,000 in donations. Salvation Army officials are thankful for all of the support for their mission.

The campaign brought increased law enforcement patrol to prepare for the holiday weekend. Operation Dry Water is a national boating under the influence campaign that strives to make sure that boaters take the necessary precautions when being out on the water. Over the holiday weekend, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources officers issued 37 citations and nearly 450 safety warnings.

JJ Sreenan kicked off his campaign Wednesday afternoon. He was born and raised in Lima and graduated from Lima Central Catholic. He has been practicing pathology in the area for over a quarter of a century, and once co-owned Lima Pathology Laboratory. Sreenan says he saw a need for change in Columbus after he saw what Ohio and the rest of the country went through the last couple of years.
