OTTAWA, OH (WLIO) - Two big names in conservative politics addressed voters in Putnam County.
U.S. Senate candidate Bernie Moreno and right-wing political commentator Ben Shapiro traveled to Ottawa to speak to a sold-out crowd at the Putnam County Republican Party's annual Lincoln Reagan Dinner. With the election now less than a month away, Moreno emphasized that his experiences as a business owner means he's more in tune with the needs and finances of Ohioans than his opponent, Sherrod Brown, a long-time politician.
Shapiro added that even if Kamala Harris is elected president, getting Moreno elected could lead to a Republican majority in Congress and limit the power of a Harris administration.

"If she is elected, then you are definitely going to need a Republican Senate. Because the prospect of Kamala Harris with a democratic senate and right now, again, the house is very fraught, it's possible the Republicans don't take the house; if she were to have a triumvirate, you're talking about a complete rewriting of the American government in a way we have really not seen in our lifetimes. I'm not just talking about big bills passed; I'm talking about actually restructuring how our government works," Shapiro told the crowd.
Bernie Moreno faces off against incumbent Senator Sherrod Brown next month on Tuesday, November 5th.
