LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - The 2026 Lee Volunteer Awards for public service were held tonight, honoring two winners.
Named after Alberta M. Lee, who was a long-time believer in volunteerism, 5 adult volunteers and 4 youth volunteers from all over Northwestern Ohio were nominated. Wednesday's ceremony was held to recognize each nominee, allow them to share a few words, and to announce the winner of the adult and youth volunteer categories.
The adult winner was Andrea King, who is involved with crime victim services as well as TV-44, and other organizations. Braxton Suever, the youth winner, is also a part of a number of groups helping out locally.
"And, just to be here tonight, with these awesome people who have given so much volunteering and service to their community makes me proud to be among them and I thank them so much," says Andrea King, adult winner for the Lee Volunteer Awards.
"Proud to be recognized for stuff I really don't do to be recognized for, you know. I do it just to see the smile on peoples' faces, put pride in them, I guess. I dont want to say, but it's a dream come true, I guess just to see your hard work pay off," says Braxton Suever, youth winner for Lee Volunteer Awards.
