COLUMBUS GROVE, Ohio (WLIO) — Columbus Grove rallied from an early deficit to beat Lima Senior 4-2 at James Earl Belcher Field.
The Spartans stranded the bases loaded in the second behind Emmanuel Jokinen-Rutz, who recorded two key strikeouts before Josiah Phillips made the final out of the inning at second base.
The Bulldogs broke through in the fifth when Gage Sautter lifted a sacrifice fly to score Alex Meyer. Columbus Grove tied it in the sixth on a pitch to the backstop that allowed Deacon Bryan to score.
Later in the inning, Meyer delivered the biggest hit of the game, lining a two-run single to center to bring home Michael King and Carsten Schroeder for the go-ahead runs.
Lima Senior brought the tying run to the plate late, but Meyer got a ground ball to Carter Flores for the final out as the Bulldogs completed the comeback.
