LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Junior Achievement is returning to Lima and is looking for volunteers to help prepare local students for success in school, work and life.
Founded in 1919, Junior Achievement has been empowering young people through financial literacy, work readiness and entrepreneurship programs. The organization partners with more than 100 local businesses and community organizations and is one of the nation's largest nonprofits dedicated to helping students develop the skills needed to succeed in a global economy.
As the program reestablishes its presence in Lima, organizers are recruiting volunteers to share their knowledge and experiences with students in local classrooms. Volunteer opportunities vary by program and can range from a single classroom visit to several sessions over multiple weeks.
"All of Junior Achievement's programs can either be delivered by volunteers or the educators. So looking for volunteers that want to get in the classroom, it might be a one-time volunteer experience or multiple days or over a few weeks. So each program is different based on the needs of the students. So just looking for individuals who want to get involved and help out in the classrooms," said Grace Shirk, district manager for West Central Ohio Junior Achievement.
